The Performance Management Section works with school level, complex area and state level supervisors, administrators and other stakeholders to develop, implement, continually evaluate, and revise for on-going program improvement, a comprehensive employee performance system for all employees of the Department of Education.

What is Performance Management?

  • Performance Management is the process of creating a work environment or setting in which people are enabled to perform to the best of their abilities.
  • It also ensures that goals are consistently being met in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Performance management is a whole work system that begins when a job is defined as needed and ends when an employee leaves our organization.

Why do Performance Evaluations?

  • It sets the baseline for each employee to work towards an annual goal.
  • Each and every employee deserves to have quality feedback on the job they are doing.
  • When handled consistently, it can be a morale booster (really!)
    • For great employees, it provides them with positive acknowledgement and reinforcement of a job well done.
    • For those employees who are struggling with their job performance, it is a method to ensure that the employee's deficiency in meeting those duties is communicated and documented for both the evaluate-e and the evaluator.
  • If you do one, it will ensure your ability as a manager to implement performance improvements of an employee if there is a deficiency.
  • Big-picture wise, it helps you as a manager identify common areas of deficiency to plan and implement programmatic changes for improvement.

This site provides access to the Department's current performance evaluation tools, resources and information regarding employee performance for all employees of the Department of Education. There are seven (7) performance evaluation tools used in the Department. Including three (3) profiles of effectiveness: (1) teacher; (2) school leader; and (3) educational officer. The Performance Management Section also administers the School Community Council Surveys.
