E-School is a supplementary education program run by the Hawaii Department of eschool logoEducation's Advanced Technology Research (ATR) Branch. It offers Online Distance Education credit classes utilizing digital technologies such as; webpages, email, threaded discussion, chat, streaming video and online textbooks.

E-School typically serves 200 to 400 students per semester from 30 to 48 secondary schools in the Hawaii DOE school system. At present students may only take 1 or 2 courses per term.

During the regular school year, only registered Hawaii DOE secondary education students -- including those in Hawai'i public charter schools -- may take classes, and like their regular classes there is no tuition charged for these classes.

Classes in the summer session are open to the public secondary school students, as well as homeschool and private school students, and there is a tuition charged.
